Tulsa Shock to Hold Open Tryouts


TULSA, Okla. (March 26, 2010) — The Tulsa Shock will hold its first-ever open tryouts for WNBA hopefuls Wednesday, April 21 at 9 a.m. at Oral Roberts University.Interested hopefuls will compete for a possible roster spot for the inaugural training camp with the Tulsa Shock starting Sunday, April 25.

Women 22 years and older who have exhausted their NCAA eligibility can register and participate in Tulsa Shock training and drill sessions hosted by Head Coach Nolan Richardson and his coaching staff.Shock coaches will evaluate players to determine their ability to make the training camp roster.

“We want to give every opportunity to those women looking to lace up the sneakers to see if they can help the Tulsa Shock in 2010,” Richardson said.

Team President Steve Swetoha is excited about Richardson’s decision to open tryouts to the public.

“We have always said that this is Tulsa’s team and we are thrilled Coach Richardson and his staff are opening tryouts to the local community, region and across America,” Swetoha said.

Registration for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is an investment of $120 and includes two lower level tickets to the Shock’s home opener Saturday, May 15 against the Minnesota Lynx.The general public is invited to observe those competing for a potential spot.
