Tulsa Shock Trade Seventh Pick in First Round of WNBA Draft for Two Players

TULSA, Okla. — The WNBA’s Tulsa Shock today traded its seventh pick in the first round of this year’s draft and its second round pick in 2011 to the Connecticut Sun for two players, the club’s basketball operations department announced today.

The two players traded to the Shock are Amber Holt, 6-0 forward and Chante Black, 6-5 center who are respectively second and first year players in the league.

Amber Holt scored six points per game and was named to the All Rookie Team in 2008. Holt played at Middle Tennessee State and was selected by the Sun in the first round (9th overall) of the 2008 draft.

Chante Black averaged two points per game and over three rebounds per game. Black played at Duke and was selected by the Sun in the first round (10th overall) of the 2009 Draft.

“We actually believe we got a tremendous deal with trading our first pick in this year’s draft and our second round pick in next year’s draft to get two great quality players that will fit my system.” Head Coach and General Manager Nolan Richardson said.

The Tulsa Shock opens the regular season on Saturday, May 15 vs. Minnesota Lynx at 7 p.m. at the Center. Season tickets are on sale now at 918-599-. Single-game tickets go on sale Thursday at 9 a.m.
