Tulsa Suspends Two Football Student-Athletes

Tulsa, Oklahoma –– University of Tulsa Head Football Coach Bill Blankenship announced today the indefinite suspension of two Golden Hurricane football student athletes, red-shirt freshman Kalen Henderson and gray-shirt freshman Zik Asiegbu (Ah-si-eh-bu), for violation of team policy.

Henderson is a 6’0” quarterback from Mount Airy, Louisiana who sat out last season as a true freshman. Asiegbu (6’0”, 190), from Grand Prairie, Texas, enrolled at Tulsa in January and has participated in spring drills at the linebacker position.

In addition, Blankenship confirmed that receiver Jameel Owens will not return for his junior season. Owens has been on a leave of absence from the football team during spring drills, but has informed Blankenship that he will not return to school.

Owens transferred to Tulsa from the University of Oklahoma in January 2010 and was granted a full transfer waiver to be eligible immediately. He left OU to be closer to his ill mother in his hometown of Muskogee.

Last year, Owens caught 18 passes for 246 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games for the Hurricane.
