Tulsa Volleyball Sweeps Tulane Sunday

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team, playing at home Sunday for only the third time this season, treated its fans to a big 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-9, 25-20) of Conference USA rival Tulane at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Tyler Henderson tallied 16 kills and Diana Silva added 12 kills and nine digs while hitting .370 to lead the Golden Hurricane, which improved to 13-2 overall and 4-0 in C-USA play after winning its 12th consecutive match.
“I was really pleased with our performance on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball,” Tulsa Head Coach Ed Allen said. “We had a very consistent performance offensively from four of our players. No one hit under .200. I think Diana Silva had her best performance of the year offensively.”
Jordan Clampitt recorded 43 assists, and Jessica Adams led the TU defense with 15 digs, while Kellie Culbertson added 12 digs. Elizabeth Kale and Hannah Stout contributed eight and seven kills, respectively, and Kale hit .357 in the match.
Tulsa hit .286 (48-16-112) with 48 kills, 46 assists, five service aces, 43 digs and 3.0 blocks. TU held its opponent under .200 hitting for the fourth straight match, as Tulane hit .087 (30-21-103) with 30 kills, 28 assists, zero aces, 39 digs and 6.0 blocks.
“I’m very pleased with the rhythm of our team right now and their flow on the floor around one another,” Allen said. “We’re plying extremely consistently. We’re doing a great job at the service line of applying pressure and sort of dictating the pace of the rally from the service line. I think it was a great, complete team effort.”
The Golden Hurricane returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Dallas to face SMU at 7 p.m. in a battle of C-USA unbeatens. TU returns home next weekend to it play host to UAB Saturday and Sunday at the Reynolds Center; both matches start at 1 p.m.
