Tulsa Zoo Appoints CEO

Tulsa Zoo Management Inc.’s () Board of Directors announced Oct. 6 that Terrie Correll has been appointed as its new . manages the zoo as part of a public-private partnership with the City of Tulsa. The zoo was privatized on Jan. 1, 2011.
The board formed a search committee earlier this year and launched a national search for the new .
In her role as , Correll will be responsible for the overall development and operation of the zoo including planning, finance, facilities, programming, as well as working within the community to develop support to advance the mission of the zoo.
“We felt that Terrie’s experience and the leadership she demonstrated during the privatization process showed she had the heart and the know-how to take our Tulsa Zoo to the next level,” said Phil Lakin, Jr., board president. “Our next step will be to select and hire a chief operating officer and a chief development officer to complement Terrie’s strengths. These three individuals will be crucial to the zoo’s transformation over the next few years.”
Correll came to the Tulsa Zoo from The Living Desert in California in the spring of 2009. She has over 30 years of experience in the zoo industry. She is originally from Ponca City, Okla. and is a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
