Tulsa CASA Fundraiser Feb. 22
CASA will roll out the red carpet for “Justice is Served— Academy Awards Style,” a dinner and apron auction benefiting Tulsa CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), on Feb. 22 at the Bernsen Community Life Center.
The highlight of the evening will be the star-studded celebrity waiters Lt. Governor Jari Askins, Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris and Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz who will serve “just desserts” to the guests. Each celebrity waiter will don a red apron for the red carpet as they serve dessert to the guests. Tips will be accepted. Other celebrity waiters who will serve dessert are Tulsa County Commissioner John Smaligo, Tulsa County Bar Association President Martha Rupp Carter; State Legislators Lucky Lamons, Jeannie McDaniel and Ron Peters; and State Senator Judy Eason McIntyre.
A special part of the evening is a live auction of one-of-a-kind aprons painted by Tulsa CASA children and will be conducted by veteran auctioneer Jay Litchfield. Each apron is custom decorated by CASA children and includes a story that tells about the CASA volunteer and child. Other live auction items include a mink coat from Miss Jackson’s, a signed Dana Tiger print, a catered cocktail party featuring “Shades of Gray,” weekend packages in Denver with Southwest airline tickets and ranch and lake getaways and more.
Cindy Morrison will emcee the evening. Money raised will provide funding for Tulsa CASA volunteer recruitment, training, and programs that will benefit over three hundred abused and neglected children in Tulsa County served by CASA volunteer advocates. Tickets are $125 per person or $1,250 for a table of eight. For other sponsorship levels, visit the Tulsa CASA Web site at www.tulsacasa.org or call (918) 584-2272.
Tulsa CASA is a community organization, which provides advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system. Currently, there are more than 1,700 children in Tulsa County involved in cases in Tulsa juvenile court due to abuse or neglect. CASA helps insure that these children get the attention they deserve.
