Tulsa Drillers Receive Texas League Honor
The Texas League recently announced that the Tulsa Drillers have been selected as the 2004 Texas League Organization of the Year. It is the third time that the Drillers have received the award. Tulsa was previously recognized in 1992 and 1996.
“It is an honor to be recognized by our peers in the Texas League,” says Drillers Executive Vice President Chuck Lamson. “It means a lot when you consider all of the great organizations within the league. But, the award is really a testament to the great baseball fans of Oklahoma who have supported Drillers Baseball.”
During the 2004 season, the Drillers increased overall attendance by more than 47,000, an increase of 17.4 percent over the 2003 total. The 2004 attendance total of 320,667 was the ninth highest total in Tulsa baseball history.
In addition, the Drillers were heavily involved in several community projects this summer, such as Stroke Awareness Day and Cancer Survivors Night.
