The Tulsa Metro Chamber, the nation’s top chamber, inaugurated David Page as the 2009 chairman and awarded the 2008 outstanding volunteers at the Annual Chamber Meeting and Inauguration, Jan. 20.

Mike Cooper, 2008 Resource Campaign Chairman and director of external affairs with AT&T, accepted the Top Producer and Resource Campaign Chairman award, which reflects great tenacity during a hectic 10 weeks. The Chamber’s annual Resource Campaign is considered a top model program by Chamber peers and provides 23 percent of the Chamber’s annual operating budget.

During the campaign, volunteers attract new members, renew memberships sold in previous campaigns and secure business sponsors for chamber programs, events and publications.

As the Campaign’s Top Producer, Cooper raised $109,690 in 2008 and as Chairman, led the Resource Campaign to exceed its goal for two consecutive years.

Under his direction, the 2007 Campaign surpassed the $2 million mark and in 2008 reached a record $2,658,095, a 30 percent increase.

Lynda Wingo, executive director of Miss Helen’s Private School, accepted the Award of Excellence. Wingo has devoted nearly a decade of service through the following roles: She served as a Resource Campaign team captain for three years, chaired the Resource Campaign and was the Campaign’s Top Producer in 2004, 2006 and 2007, culminating in more than $800,000 raised during her campaign tenure.

Motivated to strengthen the spirit of entrepreneurship and to enable small business to become big business in Tulsa, she served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee as the Vice Chairman of Small Business since 2004 and for more than 10 years on the Small Business Council.

The Chairman’s Award went to Pete Boylan and Fred Dorwart, and the Hospitality Club Volunteer of the Year award went to Carl Novara, Farmers Insurance, Novara Insurance Agency.
