The Oklahoma State University Foundation recognized Christiane Rudd as one of the top three Cowboy Callers for the 2007-2008 school year after she raised $28,508 through student telemarketing that will benefit OSU students and programs.
“Christiane has always displayed the focus and professionalism desired in a Cowboy Caller and her focus paid off,” says Heather Briggs, annual giving coordinator. “She is a consistent top fundraiser and a highly valued member of the team.”
The Tulsa native began working as a Cowboy Caller in the OSU Foundation’s telemarketing department in February 2007. Since that time, she has helped raise funds for every college on campus; several programs including the Edmon Low Library, Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Alumni Center; and countless academic scholarships. Future OSU students will see the results of her efforts for many years to come.
“I really enjoy helping to raise money for student scholarships,” says Rudd, a junior elementary education major. “The best part about being a Cowboy Caller is being able to talk to the alumni and hear their stories from while they were here. I also like to hear how happy and excited they are to help students get through school.”
Comprised of nearly 30 students, the Cowboy Callers work 10 months a year, five days a week to raise funds for the university, focusing their efforts on academic and financial student support. The Cowboy Callers played a significant role in OSU’s annual giving efforts by contacting more than 14,000 alumni and friends to raise approximately $525,000 in the 2007 fiscal year.
“Every OSU student could benefit from working at least one semester as a Cowboy Caller,” says Debbie Nance, director of annual giving. “The exposure the students receive to other academic colleges and faculty is priceless and the interaction with OSU alumni is an experience they cannot receive any place else.”
The Oklahoma State University Foundation serves as the private fundraising organization for OSU, as designated by the OSU Regents. Its mission is to unite donor and university passions and priorities to achieve excellence.
