Tulsa Youth Symphony Plays Free Concert


The Tulsa Youth Symphony is presenting a free concert for children on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Liddy Doenges Theatre at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, 110 E. 2nd St. It is also their first concert of the season.

There will be two 45 minute performances, one at 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.

The concert is designed for young people from pre-school through elementary, although the music will appeal to all ages. A booklet with musical activities, as well as information about the music and the orchestra, will be given to each young person attending.

The program will consist of demonstrations of individual instruments and sections of the orchestra, and musical stories and images. Music to be performed includes “Serenata” by Leroy Anderson, “Morning” and “In the Hall of the Mountain King” from “Peer Gynt” by Edvard Grieg, “The Toreadors” from “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, and “Evening Prayer” from “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck.
