Senior Arnau Brugues was named the No. 1 singles player in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s National Men’s Singles poll released Thursday, Feb. 17. Brugues is the first player in Tulsa history to be ranked by the ITA as the nation’s top singles player.

Brugues was recently named Conference USA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the third consecutive week and for the ninth time in his career. Brugues is the first men’s athlete to win the weekly award for three consecutive weeks since Michael Kogan of Tulane accomplished the feat in 2003 and he becomes only the third men’s player to ever achieve three straight weekly honors.

Brugues is a three-time All-America selection, three-time Conference USA Player of the Year, 2008 ITA Central Region Singles Champion, and the 2006 Ralph Lauren All-American Singles Champion.
