TU Students Mentor Area High School Students on Leadership Development

TU LEADERSHIP: High school juniors from eight Tulsa area schools participated in an all-day leadership enhancement and development conference Feb. 26 on the University of Tulsa campus. TU students hosted the event. The high school students participated in team-building exercises and ethics discussions and attended presentations on leadership, goal setting, and communication skills. The goal of the conference was to expose high school students to the challenges of lifelong leadership and to challenge them to take ownership of their own leadership abilities. The TU students hosted the leadership conference as a community service outreach project. They are members of the TU chapter of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), a worldwide organization that challenges students to apply their classroom knowledge toward improving their communities. For more information on the TU SIFE team and its community outreach projects in the areas of fiscal responsibility, entrepreneurship, ethics, and free-market economics, call Claire Cornell, the SIFE faculty advisor, at 631-2684.
