Tway Named Big 12 Golfer of the Month
Oklahoma State’s Kevin Tway was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for April it was announced today by the league office.
The honor adds to an already impressive list of accolades this week for Tway, who was named a first-team All-Big 12 pick on Tuesday and a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award earlier today.
Currently ranked third in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, Tway helped log its sixth and seventh team wins of the year at the Augusta State Invitational and its fifth-straight Big 12 Championship. The Cowboys also posted their second runner-up finish of the season at the Aggie Invitational.
Tway earned his first win of the year and the fourth of his career at the Augusta State Invite with a 12-under 204 total. He opened the event with a career-best 64 and followed with a 69. The senior posted a 1-under 215 to finish as therunner-up to teammate Peter Uihlein at the Aggie Invitational.
Tway made it two second-place finishes in a row after placing as the runner-up to teammate Morgan Hoffmann at the Big 12 Championship. The Edmond, Okla.-native opened with a 66 before finishing at 5-over 285. Tway has now finished in the top five in six of his 11 starts.
The honor is the first monthly league award of Tway’s career. He joins teammates Peter Uihlein and Morgan Hoffmann as Cowboys to have received the distinction this year.
