Union Offers $2,000 Signing Bonus To Full-Time Bus Drivers

Union Public Schools is offering a $2,000 signing bonus to full-time bus drivers in an incentive effort to recruit employees.

“It has been a challenge finding enough drivers that we feel this one-time sign-on bonus is necessary in order to get more attention for these critical positions,” Chief Communications Officer Chris Payne said. “These signing bonuses will be paid out of Vision 2025 funds for recruitment and retention efforts.  This is for full-time bus driver positions.”

The starting pay for bus drivers is $12.54 per hour at Union Public Schools, based upon education and experience. In order to receive the bonus, bus drivers must agree to stay with Union Public Schools for one complete year. In the event they leave the position early, they will have to pay back a prorated amount of the bonus back to the district.
