Union School District Seeking Applicants to Fill Board Vacancy
Union Public Schools is looking to fill a vacant seat on its Board of Education after the resignation of one of itsBoard Members. Zone # 2 representative Ross Ford, who recently retired from the Tulsa Police Department, stepped down from hisBoard position to become Union’s Director of Security.
Monday night the Board voted to appoint a replacement for the remainder of the term, until February 2012, rather than hold a special election. The Board anticipates conducting interviews in order to make an appointment at the February 14 Board meeting. Residents of Union’s Zone #2 interested in the appointment should submit a letter of interest to the Board Secretary at the UnionEducationServiceCenter8506 East 61st StreetTulsa74133, by Friday, January 28, or e-mail tothummel.beverly@unionps.org.
Besides living in Zone #2, applicants must have been registered to vote at an address located in Zone #2 for at least six months. Employees of the school district and relatives (within the second degree) of district employees or Board members are not eligible. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
