Union to Host In-Person Graduation on May 27; Virtual Graduation Option Scheduled for May 22

Union High School will host in-person graduation for the Class of 2021 on Thursday, May 27, at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC). Graduation will take place at three different times – 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. – in response to safety protocols due to COVID-19.  Students will be assigned to a specific ceremony time based on their last name. Information on ticketing will be made available at a later date, in compliance with COVID protocols.
In addition, the district will also offer a Virtual Graduation option on Saturday, May 22 (time TBD), for those who would prefer to watch comfortably from home or want to share with their extended friends and family.
“We want to ensure that Union’s Class of 2021 has every opportunity to celebrate with friends and family in the way they feel most comfortable,” said Superintendent Dr. Kirt Hartzler. “Having three commencement ceremonies will allow us to safely spread out and invite family members, while keeping the celebration at home in the UMAC. We will continue to offer the Virtual Graduation for those who prefer that option.”
Organizers have not yet determined the status of the Graduation Celebration, an all-night safe, drug and alcohol-free after-party that has become a Union tradition.
