The Tulsa Area United Way celebrated the official end of its 2009 campaign recently by projecting that it has reached this year’s campaign goal of $23,898,673.

Don Walker, 2009 campaign chair and president of ARVEST says that this has been a very tough but rewarding year. “Every individual and every company that has helped in this campaign can take great satisfaction in knowing they’ve made a huge difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people in the Tulsa area. It truly came down to the last moments and we are just elated that we will be able to fully meet our funding commitments to our 63 local partner agencies in 2010.”

Mark R. Graham, president and of the Tulsa Area United Way agrees that this has been a very difficult year because of the economy and unemployment. “The entire team, our Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet, volunteers, staff and Loaned Executives accepted the challenge to help close the $1.6 million campaign gap we faced in these last 10 days. I am extremely humbled by the willingness, commitment and generosity of this team and our entire community.”

The campaign announcement was made at the United Way’s annual Unite! celebration held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The Tulsa Area United Way funds over 170 local programs offered by its 63 partner agencies. The Tulsa Area United Way receives support and provides help in Creek, Okmulgee, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Wagoner counties. Donate online at www.tauw.org or call (918) 583-7171.
