Vail Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District


STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State’s Ryan Vail was named to the The Magazine Academic-All District First Team for the third time in his Cowboy career Thursday.

An outgoing senior on OSU’s national champion cross country team, Vail was one of 10 athletes named to the District VI first team.

Nominated by the school’s academic services and media relations offices, Vail earned a 3.62 grade point average while working toward his master’s degree in international studies.

With earning the All-District distinction, the Gresham, Ore., native is eligible to be named an The Magazine Academic All-American for the third time in his career.

Vail, one of the most decorated athletes in cross country and track history, was named to the USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic Team eight times in his career, four each for cross country and track.

He also was named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team on nine occasions, five of those coming in cross country and four for track.
