Village on Main Retains Sasaki Associates, Inc.
DEVELOPING JENKS: The Village on Main has reached an agreement with Sasaki Associates, Inc. for the design of the development.
Village on Main, the mixed-use, lifestyle development currently under construction in its first phase in Jenks, recently announced that it has come to an agreement with Sasaki Associates, Inc. of Boston, Mass. for design services.
Sasaki Associates, Inc. is an acclaimed interdisciplinary master planning and design firm whose services are apparent in both the broadest sense internationally and in focused town centers in America. In 2008, Sasaki won an international design competition to establish the master plan for the Olympic Green for the Beijing Olympics. On a smaller scale, Sasaki provided services in planning and urban design for The Woodlands, Tex., a suburb of Houston, Tex. and Reston, Virg. outside of Washington, DC. Sasaki will employ these experiences and others to offer Village on Main a collaborative and creative approach to planning. Through their critique of the master plan as well as the creation of design guidelines, Sasaki will make Oklahoma and Jenks specifically, a regional model for development.

Sasaki will establish a set of design guidelines for Village on Main that creates commonality and maintains uniformity of function while still allowing aesthetic diversity. Villages are traditionally built by many, not just one, and the charge will be to engage several local architects to implement Sasaki’s design guidelines to their segment of Village on Main. Sasaki will also evaluate the current master plan for Village on Main and provide feedback on how it can best create a compact, sustainable and town-centered development for Jenks. “The City of Jenks is very excited about Sasaki Associates, Inc. involvement with the Village on Main development. Just a quick Google search will show Sasaki’s association with a variety of national and international projects including the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Federal Campus. We are hopeful that ideas and design criteria developed for Village on Main will set a standard throughout our community,” says Jenks Mayor Vic Vreeland.

Village on Main is an estimated $60 million, 420,000-square-foot retail, office, residential and hotel mixed-use, lifestyle development project. It will be constructed in three phases during the next three years.
