Vipers Outdo 66ers in High Scoring Game


TULSA, Okla., Dec. 5, 2010 – Jerome Dyson led the Tulsa 66ers (3-4) in scoring with 23 points, Latavious Williams chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds and Cole Aldrich added four points, eight rebounds and a blocked shot in a 117-105 defeat to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2-3) Sunday afternoon inside the Tulsa Convention Center.

The matchup was the first between the two teams since last year’s D-League finals.

“We have to continue improving on the defensive end,” 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said. “This week in practice will be a great opportunity for us to get better as a unit. I thought a couple of guys came in and provided great energy, and that is what our whole team has to do. I look forward to this team improving before next weekend.”

Also recording double digits in scoring for the 66ers was Zabian Dowdell with 14, Larry Owens with 11 and Elijah Millsap with 10. Tweety Carter led the team in assists with four.

The Vipers were led by Stanley Robinson off the bench with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting and five rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for was Mustafa Shakur with 17, Antonio Anderson with 16, Patrick
Patterson with 15, and Garrett Temple and Mouhammad Faye with 13 and 11, respectively.

The 66ers will return to action on Friday, Dec. 10 when they travel to South Dakota to take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 7 p.m.
