Fargo, ND – North Dakota State University put to rest any ORU postseason hopes, dropping the Golden Eagles 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18) in front of a crowd of nearly 1,000 fans Saturday night at Bentson Bunker Field House.

ORU managed to hang tough with the Bison in the early goings of game number one, knotting the bout up at 10 each on an Olivia Ophus kill. It was all NDSU from that point on however, as the host Bison rattled off a commanding 12-5 run and eventually pulled out the seven point win.

The Golden Eagles would not taste a lead for the remainder of the evening, as NDSU pulled ahead quickly in set two and held off a late ORU charge in the 25-20 win.

ORU would fare no better in the evening’s final set, falling behind 16-10 midway through, as NDSU cruised to the 25-18 decision.

Serena Cate led the way for the Golden Eagles with eight kills (.318) and six digs. Ophus added seven kills and 16 digs for the ladies, while Bruna Silva posted a game-best 18 digs.

NDSU finishes the regular season tied with IPFW for first place in the Summit League standings with a conference record of 14-4. Southern Utah and South Dakota State each finish with a 12-6 record and will also advance to the postseason.

With the loss, ORU finished the season with a record of 12-14 overall and 10-8 in conference action.
