Wanda Jo Peltier Running for House District 93
OKLAHOMA – June 11, 2010 – Former State Representative Wanda Jo Peltier, D-South Oklahoma City, filed today to reclaim the seat she held for House District 93 (1986-1996). That seat is now held by Republican Mike Christian whom Peltier says “has served himself instead of his constituents in District 93 .”
“I’m retired and never planned to run for political office again, but the situation in District 93 is serious, and several constituents have urged me to run. After a week weighing my duty to serve versus my desire to stay retired,” I chose duty.
“The tipping point in my decision was Christian’s failure to cast 305 votes during the
four-month legislative session just ended. That failure to vote was spread over 49 days throughout the entire session and documents gross neglect of the people’s business, In contrast, I had perfect attendance during my 10-years as state representative,” Peltier said.
“In addition, State Ethics Commission records document that Christian spent well over $100,000 on each of his two campaigns for the legislature. That money came mainly from the corporate community and from political action committees. So Christian is indebted to them instead of to us constituents. In contrast, I never took a dime of either corporate or money while I served District 93,” Peltier said.
“It’s time for special interests to stop dominating the public interest,” Peltier concluded.
