Wheelchair Warriors

66ERS PREGAME: The Oklahoma State Cowboys, listening to their coach during a time out, took on the Tulsa Roustabouts in a wheelchair basketball game Jan. 24.
The game preceded the Tulsa 66ers contest. The wheelchair players may or may not be able to walk, but to be eligible to play in a game, they must have a physical disability that keeps them from playing regulation basketball. The game was part of an effort on the part of the Tulsa 66ers management to bring something of local benefit to each contest (a game later in the season resulted in a free ticket for every coat donated). For the record, the Roustabouts, a team with players from all over the Tulsa area, defeated the Cowboys, made up of OSU students, 31-24.
