FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oral Roberts freshman Jack Whittposted a sixth-place finish in the pole vault event this past weekend at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark.

Whitt, the lone freshman nationally to qualify for the event, soared to a height of 5.35 meters to place sixth. The Norman, Okla., native entered the event with the nation’s third-best mark of 5.50 meters, set on Jan. 16 at Wichita State.

Whitt had a historic start to his collegiate career, winning five consecutive pole vault events, including the Summit League Indoor Championship, where he was named the Newcomer of the Championship after setting the all-time conference tournament and Bison Sports Arena mark. Whitt posted one NCAA automatic qualifying mark and four NCAA provisional marks during the indoor season, and earned Summit League Athlete of the Week honors twice, as well as January Male Athlete of the Month accolades.
