Women’s Golf Falls Just Short at ORU Shootout

TULSA—Oral Roberts women’s golf team fired a final round 298 but the Golden Eagles couldn’t overcome a 17-stroke deficit as Tulsa captured the team title at the Bob Hurley Auto Family ORU Shootout which concluded Tuesday at Meadowbrook Country Club.

The Golden Eagles finished the three round, 17-team tournament with a 917 (316-303-298) overall score, finishing in second place, nine strokes behind the Golden Hurricane (908).  Sam Houston State (924), UTEP (924) and Lamar (947) made up the rest of the top five teams.

Tulsa’s Marita Engzelius (221) won individual medalist honors.

Junior Amber Hensley and freshman Alheli Moreno took tops honors for ORU, finishing tied for fifth at 229. Hensley posted scores of 77-76-76 while Moreno shot 79-75-75.

Junior Crystal Reeves finished tied for 12th at 231 (78-78-75) while fellow junior Kylie Bollenbachfinished tied for 18th at 233 after shooting even-par 72 on Tuesday. Sophomore Tiffany Robbinstied for 29th at 239 (82-74-83).

Playing as individuals, sophomore Eve Santillan finished tied for 29th at 239 (77-80-82) while senior Rachel Romack tied for 58th at 250 (84-78-88).

The Golden Eagles next participate in the Dale McNamara Invitational, Oct. 11-3 at The Patriot in Owasso.
