The Tulsa Zoo held its annual fundraiser, WALTZ on the Wild Side, on Friday, June 15. WALTZ stands for We All Love the Tulsa Zoo.
This year’s event raised $300,000. The theme of the event was Year of the Dragon, paying homage to the zoo’s newest exhibit The Lost Kingdom: Tiger and Komodo Dragon, which features snow leopards, Malayan tigers and Komodo dragons.
Patrons were treated to food from 40 Tulsa restaurants, drinks and live music. Other activities included rickshaw rides, fortune tellings and dragon dancers. Past WALTZ events have funded the creation of the Chimpanzee Connection, Elephant Encounter, Children’s Zoo and others exhibits. Honorary Waltz chairs were Frank and Gayle Eby. Patron chairs were John and Sandy Stava.
