The Tulsa Zoo’s signature event and fundraiser, WALTZ on the Wild Side, will take place on June 17 at the Tulsa Zoo. The committee chairs are Shelley and Raymond Denny.

For those who have not been to WALTZ, it is an evening filled with live entertainment (the growling tigers, chirping parrots, barking sea lions and shrieking chimps add to the entertainment) and fabulous fare from some of Tulsa’s best dining establishments. WALTZ, an acronym for We All Love the Tulsa Zoo, began in 1990. Current Tulsa Zoo Friends Executive Director Mary Collins spearheaded the event. It has grown in size and popularity from 350 guests to approximately 1,800 in recent years.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. and will run to midnight. For more information, please contact Sara Hughes at 918-669-6608 or shughes@tulsazoo.org.

Proceeds from this year’s WALTZ will fund the Growing Wild Campaign benefiting the Siberian Tiger exhibit. This year’s patrons to date are Lora Larson and Brad Pikle, the Meinig Family Foundation, Radiology Consultants of Tulsa, Nameplates Inc./Images Inc, Samson, Wendy’s, Rich and Cartmill, John Zinc Company, the Gelvin Foundation, Inc, Sandra and Stephen Rodoff, Erica Dorwart, Dr. Robert and Norma Kramer, Beth and Keith Goddard, F. W. Murphy, Kim and Nancy Hauger and Bill and Sherri Griggs.

In addition to the Dennys, the committee members include Brooke Hamilton-Pentecost, Sue Boze, Paul and Kathy Keeling, John and Debby Doak, Sandy and Margaret Scherer, John and Lori Cowen, Kris and Sherry King, Lisa Davis, Jon and Theda Werthen, Jordan and Lee Taylor, John and Tina DeBarres, Leslie Turnbull, Stephen and Sandy Rodolf, Greg and Lisa Swab, Brad and Leslie Hoyt, Jeff and LuAnna Galles, Mike and Jamey Morrisett, Steve and Janna Roberson, Bruce and Shea Roach, Greg and Tara Hughes and Paul and Wynn Marsh.
